AN EGYPTIAN LIMESTONE QUINTUPLE KOHL TUBE, 7.3 x 5.7 cm (2.87 x 2.24 inches)
This piece, made of soft limestone, consists of five drilled tubes that would have originally contained eye makeup, which was essential for hygiene in ancient times. A flat lid was originally attached with a small metal pin inserted through a hole on top of the vessel, positioned between two of the tubes. This design helped protect the ointment from contamination when not in use.
It is a rare example in excellent condition, showcasing natural patina.
